7 years ago, according to Resolution No. 74 of great state assembly dated July 9, 2015, the customs duty on imported cement was increased from 5% to 20%, which was to support domestic cement production and protect the domestic market for similar goods. Since then, cement imports have decreased.
The Government of Mongolia made a decision on September 14, 2022 to reduce the supply shortage of domestic cement factories. This was done by reducing the customs duty on cement imports from 20% to 0% in order to facilitate normal development work.
Since the above decision, the flow of imported cement from China has started and will continue to increase. As of September 20, 2022, a total of about 1,000 tons of cement has been imported since the above decision of the Government of Mongolia.
